His professional background is rooted in disturbance ecology, with a particular focus on oil and gas impacts to coastal wetlands, plant community dynamics, and sediment-driven restoration strategies.
He has planned and managed numerous large-scale coastal ecosystem restoration projects requiring NEPA documentation, and most recently served as Project Manager and Senior Technical Advisor for the Mid-Breton Sediment Diversion Third-Party Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Dr. Bass also served as Project Manager and Lead Scientist for the Terrebonne Basin Barrier Shoreline Restoration Project – Third-Party Integrated EIS/Feasibility Report, and managed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Louisiana Coastal Use Permit application submittals for the Mississippi River Long-Distance Sediment Pipeline Project.
